I’m redecorating my bedroom…?

I am finally redecorating my bedroom!!! I’ve had princesses haunting my dreams since I was 7. My room is very tiny and I have tons of ideas but don’t know what to do. I don’t want it to look like a rainbow threw up in my room but I love colors. Two walls will be light blue, the other two will be a light-ish green. I have mirrors of both colors and they will go on opposite walls and my dad and I are making a big bookshelf that I am going to paint in different colors. I LOVE books and am going to make photo copies of the books I love most (twilight, blue is for nightmares, wicked series, the seer…) and frame them, hanging them around the room. I love to write and my friends and I know it sounds odd, but I find the Zodiac Killer fascinating. Any ideas on what I could do? Again, I have a very small bedroom and am on a budget. Thank you in advance!

You can have a colorful room without having to paint your walls with too many colors. You can introduce other colors with your decor (throw pillows, lamp shade, posters, desk organizers, curtain, blinds, beddings) or furniture (writing desk, chair, bed). If you want happy colors, I suggest using bold and bright shades instead of light ones. If you like it more feminine though, light shades should work fine. Use contrasting colors to give the colorful look.

To make your small room look bigger – a big mirror or two will definitely help. It will not only give an illusion of depth but it will also make your room look brighter. Another trick is to not clutter your walls. Leave big spaces between frames and other decor which you choose to hang on the walls. When displaying on bookshelves, go for the organized look – e.g. display books by size, or color.

If you’re photocopying book covers to adorn your walls, I suggest going for a colored photocopy to maintain your colorful scheme. If you choose to use black/white copies, use a different color for every frame. You may also stick the book cover copies on foam boards so you need not spend on framing.
