Philosophical argument with a friend about the ad hominem and the Frankfurt School
philosophical argument with a friend about the ad hominem and the Frankfurt School
Hasan Yahya, Ph.D </ i>
The message from a friend saying:
"I do not know anything about your "crecentolgy" theory, but it seems to focus on conflict management – the need for compromise is probably necessary consequence of it. But it is the search for truth is not the same as the search for consensus or compromise. I suspect that we may be approaching the conversation from different objectives right now. It sounds as if you are from Edward Said camp with a lot of your perspective? If so, is to play "school franfurt" I do not accept the inheritance of the reasons I gave earlier. In fact, I find his criticism almost nothing adhominem attacks dressed with too much of the prose, sorry.:) You mentioned the Russell-I'm sorry, who is this? Bertrand Russell? If so, I love him, which I subscribe to analytic philosophy. "</ I> [End of minutes. Friend notice]
My answer was in two parts, the first: You make it hard now! 1) I went too often putting in my way to Detroit and back. 2) My theory is Crescentology a book on Amazon, but its cheap, but I can make a copy. 3) Truth never be found if not relative to what it is based on research with high probability, compromise is an attitude that truth if we are accustomed to, 5) Are you kidding about Bertrand Russell, British and U.S. who wrote, why I am not a Christian? It's hard to believe. (4) will be answered later. I do not think we are talking about a different perspective here, though we both speak logic. Here is my second response number 4 above:
1st If the conditions that you used "The Fran (k) Frankfurt School (FS) and" adhominem attack ", according to these conditions, the FS considers facts or truths deny adhominem stereotypes. If you need facts, we can discuss the perceived or imagined facts of the two papers by Bernard Lewis and Samuel Huntington. A good book on the subject was published by M. Shaid Alam, Challenges New Orientalism, (2006). He denies adhominem sense of Edward Said's response to Lewis and Huntington attack of Orientalism. In fact, the latter two professors had adhominem attack on Edward Said. I think that if I argue, I would argue on the basis of ideas rather than people. People who have many colors, but the truth has two sides, true or false. The most dangerous ideas are those that depend on perceptions rather than facts. Ideas may be ideological, intellectual, or even in mathematics, you can give ideas about figures as true or false. If the ideology, needs ideas turn out to be true, but the intellectual ideas need facts as natural phenomena, than the sun from the east, I have children, so I'm a woman. [This case can not be true unless the talker is not a man]
2nd In my case, I can not be in the side of the ad hominem argument because I think I are not ideological. If I have one, my ideology would be intellectual reasoning to find the facts. Emotions also have a lot of people's lives can not do themselves, but the emotional issues have to be distinguished from the facts of human relationships. By Waya Another good book is the Frankfurt School: its history, theory and policy importance of Rolf Wiggershaus, David Weininger. It gives the following description of Franfurt school: He describes "the beginning of this century, a loose compilation of intellectuals known as the "Frankfurt School" produced a body of work that was haunted by just such questions. Famous names include Theodor W. Adorno, Max Horkheimer, Herbert Marcuse, Walter Benjamin, Erich Fromm. While they engage in a dazzling diverse group of intellectual disciplines and theoretical approaches, the clue for their analysis was the diagnosis of the ruined, pathological world of the early 20th century. According to the triumphant twin shadows of full-blown industrial capitalism and national socialism.
3rd I might ask the same two questions, the Frankfurt School asked 1) How did we get here? and 2) Be salvation lie? That can not be answered quickly or easily. But the consequences will be infinite in intellectual life. What was so very original about their common practice was that the responses were not in political activism or of a revolutionary labor movement, but in such arcane phenomena as avant-garde art, psychoanalysis, dialectical philosophy and a messianic religious faith.
4th Their [FS] studies, which goes under the general name of "critical theory", was among the first that can be properly labeled interdisciplinary, which includes insights from so many different areas. At the time of their mature works-particularly Horkheimer and Adorno's Dialectic of Enlightenment-members the Frankfurt School is no longer on his work as philosophy, sociology, aesthetics and psychology, it was simply "Theory".
5th According My philosophy, in my learning and interacting with people with experiences (students, colleagues and staff through my career), I would encourage people to adopt certain principles such as: Always try. Do your best. Manage yourself. Treat others with respect. Cooperate and actively help others. And finally, respect property and rights of others, who took a school that principles of schoolchildren. I believe that these principles can apply to any person, regardless of social or biological properties. It is my assessment different style. I refuse to be described as a breakdown of an ad hominem argument, for two reasons: 1: appealing to emotions and prejudices rather than intellect and 2: marked by or is an attack on an opponent's character rather than a response to what has been done. As in Latin: "argument to the man", or "the man" consists of replying to an argument or factual claim by attacking or appealing to a characteristic or belief of the source to make arguments or claim, rather than by addressing the content in the arguments or evidence against the claim. I am not interfering in a process to prove or disprove the claim that to do so is undermined, as the argumentum ad hominem working to change the subject.
6th In other words, ad hominem arguments are the most commonly used to refer specifically to the ad hominem abusive, or argumentum ad personam, which consists of criticizing or attacking the person who proposed the argument (personal attack) in an attempt to discredit the argument. It is also used when an opponent can not find fault with an argument, but for various reasons, opposed by the opponent, which I refuse.
7th Finally, ad hominem arguments are always invalid syllogistic logic, since the truth value of premises is taken as given, and validity of a logical conclusion is independent of the source that makes inference. In addition, ad hominem arguments are rarely presented as formal inferences, and their assessment lies in the field of informal logic and theory of evidence, which largely depends on assessments of credibility witness (eyewitness or expert witnesses. Evidence that a purported eyewitness is unreliable, or has a motive to lie, or that an alleged expert witness lacks the claimed expertise can play an important role in making assessments of the evidence. Savannah is a city of mystery, southern charm, quiet whispers and happy years visiting this celebrations. City almost-by-the-Sea has a desire mine. We hear about the wonderful gardens with beautiful Spanish moss illuminate sculptures and trees. Savannah is also birthplace of a woman who changed the lives of millions of girls around the world ⠀ "Juliet Gordon Low Founder of Girl Scouts. And also Cemeteries are so beautiful with its haunting statues of a book, Bonaventure Cemetery was a major tourist destination.
Real estate is shockingly affordable in Savannah â € "The prices range from $ 135,000 for darling homes for upwards of $ 500 000 for homes in the historic old Savannah neighborhood where you can almost hear history's next life.
If you are interested in moving to Savannah, perhaps the best thing to do is to plan the vacation of a week. The first day, splurge on a tour of the city by trolley, trolley buses, walks, trolley. or the second day, take your car and drive the other neighborhoods outside the historical and tourism sites to get a real feel. the third day, plans to meet with a real estate agent in person. sit down together, "says the agent what your needs are, how much you spend, what you like about certain areas you have seen. Ask if they can tell about other districts that you have not yet discovered.
On the fourth and fifth days, then some houses with your agent! A certain that there are over 1300 homes available right now in this great southern city of Georgia, you should have no trouble finding a home with a lush garden; pets, suitable for children, no child-friendly, no-pets no-farm, or whatever your heart desires.
As for me, I have a trip to Savannah planned July. You can find me on a ghost tour, visiting nearby Tybee Island, maybe eat at Paula Deen's Queen of Southern cuisine, or at otherwise enjoy the wonderful hospitality of Savannah offers.
